Process

Trend & Technology Research

We started this project with online research on what are the environmental issues regarding urban planning and design.

Existing Solution Analysis

We were able to discover existing solutions that are available to solve the issue we discovered. We spent some time to do a audit for the experience on the existing solutions and quickly mapped the opportunities for our own solutions.

Problem Framing and Opportunities Proposals

Based on competitive audit, we formed the strategy and differentiation features for our site.

Wireframe

The team started to sketch out the UX for the solution we were pursuing .

Visual Design

The team designed visuals for key screens and landing page for prototyping.

Prototyping and User Testing

While still internal focused, 3M leveraged its internal subject matter experts to get quick feedback to iterate on

Project Outcome

Using the feedback from the testing sessions, the team was able to update the design and content strategies and the client was able to develop a website that make it easy to calculate the C02 output of a given building and design effective greenery installations to maximize the offset. This work took place within a 1 week sprint during 3M’s Summer Hackathon, and has since been stood up as a project team within our Industrial Minerals Solutions Division
